SCHSL announces new RELATIONSHIP WITH THE SOUTH CAROLINA Army NATIONAL GUARD

SCARNG Shows Support of Student-Athlete Achievement. 

Columbia, SC – The South Carolina Army National Guard (SCARNG) has joined the South Carolina High School League (SCHSL) as a sponsor honoring high school student-athletes who excel academically, the SCHSL announced today.

The South Carolina Army National Guard will be sponsoring the League’s popular Scholar-Athlete program, according to the SCHSL’s Commissioner Jerome Singleton.

The program awards South Carolina high school athletes who display exemplary academic performance.

“The SCHSL is honored to have the National Guard on board as part of the League’s corporate partner family,” said Commissioner Singleton. “Our core values and beliefs align in many ways. We look forward to a mutually beneficial relationship for hopefully years to come.”

To qualify individual Scholar-Athletes must be a senior, attain at least a 3.5 grade point average for seven semesters, letter in two sports for at least one season or in one sport for at least two seasons (it is recommended that the student letter as a senior as well).  Additionally, in order to become a SCHSL Scholar-Athlete the student must exhibit outstanding citizenship and sportsmanship.

“We are excited about this new opportunity to work with the South Carolina High School League,” stated Sergeant First Class Elvis Arroyave.  “We hope to impact our youth in the Palmetto state through the strong combination of academics and athletics!”

Scholastic Sports Marketing in conjunction with Huddle Inc., the SCHSL’s marketing arm, negotiated the terms of the partnership.
