Due to weather related issues, the South Carolina High School League is postponing the 2019-20 Cross Country Championships regularly scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, November 16, until Tuesday, November 19, starting at noon.  After discussions with the host (Carolina Racing Association) and cross country officials, it has been decided to delay the championship races for safety issues due to the possible poor condition of the course and grounds.

“It is in the best interest of our student-athletes to postpone all running events scheduled for the Carolina Cup Facility tomorrow as the excessive rains across the area have created a less than satisfactory path for our runners. This poses a threat to their safety and may compromise a fair race. We appreciate the input from the facility administrators and running officials who shared concern and provided input on the matter,” states Jerome Singleton, SCHSL Commissioner.

A full itinerary for races on Tuesday, November 19, will be released today on the SCHSL website as well as social media profiles. Please stay tuned to SCHSL pages as well as your school sites.

We appreciate the patience and understanding from our student-athletes, coaches, school administrators and fans as safety takes precedence in this matter.  We hope to see you Tuesday to cheer on our student-athletes at the Carolina Cup Facility.
